joy in the little things

This week was a really hot week of walking all over Suncheon. After the baptism we all of a sudden just lost a lot of investigators and so this week has been mostly finding... but it also has been the hottest week ever. SUMMER IS HERE ㅠㅠ
Not having any investigators or appointments we were lead to areas to try and visit less actives and previous investigators who had met with missionaries in the past. But we had no luck with that and so we continued to walk all over our area.. I cant really feel my legs right now. These weeks really help me rely on my savior and humble myself to ask God for help.

Love and Peace in Suncheon

Sister TANner lines:)

After long hot days of proselyting we were able to get some phone numbers and talk to a lot of people. Not much showed interest to meet again but I know that "NO EFFORT IS WAISTED". If we work as hard as we can, I know that God will take care of the rest. This week was full of many tender mercies. One of them was the other day, and we were walking and then my companion answered the phone to someone calling to ask for "태너" (Tanner). So she handed me the phone and it was a girl I had met when we were in the Trio. She said she hasn't been able to contact us for some personal reasons but was calling off of her friends phone because she wanted to talk to me! It was such a simple tender mercy to even hear from her. And then when we were on our way home last night we ran into her on the street!!!~ I don't really even know this girl but I know that if she can't meet with us now that she will be able to later. Missionaries will find her again and she will prepared to receive this gospel in a heart beat. I am grateful for the hard times in missionary work because it is not always easy.. and there is not always baptisms. But because of these challenging times I learn more. I learned that no matter how tiring something is, no matter how hard something might seem right then, if we have a positive attitude and laugh.. everything doesn't seem to bad after all.

We made our own dinner.

Thanks Sister Park

So grateful for her cooking skills

If you tickle him. He will smile:)

I came across this scripture after a long day in the heat.. I found it perfectly fitting^^
1 Nephi 21:10
"They shall not hunger nor thirst, neither shall the heat nor the sun smite them; for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them."

My daily inspiration.

Our savior has experienced everything for us already. Let us trust in him and let God do the rest!
I love you all so much!!~ sorry this email was short!! I hope you have an amazing week!!

WAHOO!!! 1 YEAR OUT AND A BAPTISM.

WEEK 53- MONDAY MAY 16, 2016

HELLO!!!
I don't have much time, but I have so much to say!

The Suncheon crew before last transfer.

My sweet new companion Sister Park

This week was crazy busy but one of the most memorable moments on my mission. You know our Mongolian Investigator that we have been working with to prepare for her to be baptized??.... She was baptized last night!!! It has been quite the journey preparing her for this day but it finally came! She is the most prepared person ever.. we can't even communicate with her but she radiates Christ's light and I know that because of this decision to follow Jesus Christ her and her family will be so blessed!!! I am so grateful to be but a small part of her conversion. I love this family with all my heart and want them to be happy and find joy through the restored gospel. Sister Oh our investigators daughter was so happy the entire night. Her mom finally walked through the gate towards eternal life with her and her younger siblings. This baptism was so special and I will always remember it forever. I am so grateful for the opportunity that I got to meet them and share this special day with them.

So grateful for the Elders and all their hard work. Hehe:)

The family

The sweet Mother and Daughter

So lucky to be apart of their eternal journey

Pres. Jo and the newest member of our ward.

1 YEAR MARK!!~~
Can you believe that?!? I sure cant!! I still feel like a Greenie... haha. But this year has been full of miracles and experiences that I will never forget. I am so grateful for ever minute of my mission and all that I have learned. If I could put missionary work into one word I think it would be JOY.
I have found so much JOY through this work and I am so very blessed to be serving in Korea. Constant rejection, hot summers, body aches, dropped investigators, will never overcome the amount of JOY that I have found as I serve as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Sometimes I feel like I still don't know anything, still can't speak the language but with a BIG SMILE on my face, I know who I represent!

Happy!!

These kids have my heart

Love this face.

My buddy.

I love you and thank you for all that you have done for me!! You are always in my prayers and I am sorry that I didn't have time to write more! I will try to write more next week!~

Love you forever Mom and Dad!!

I hope every Mom out there had a fantastic Mothers day. I know I am extremely grateful for my Mom and her example. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't at least tell someone about my Mom or family. It's the best way to start proselyting haha. I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve in Korea. Sometimes it still feels unreal, like its all a dream. But its real life. I am actually living in korea where my mom was born and I actually met my Grandpa! I am so excited to see what happens these next 6 months! Sorry I dont really know what to write right now!! MY 할아버지 HAL-AH-BO-JEE!

WEEK 51- MONDAY MAY 2, 2016

HELLO!!!! 안녕하세요!!!!
I dont even know where to start with this email...

Lets see how about we start with the day that I GOT TO MEET MY GRANDPA
 HERE IN KOREA~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Grandfather!!

I can't even explain to you how amazing that day was. We got a call from him in the afternoon last Pday and he said I will be there in 30 minutes. So we rushed to the train station and waited for him there. When we started seeing more groups of people coming down the escalator so we went to stand at the bottom. Then I see my cute little grandpa coming down. I immediately recognized him! My companion was like "how did you know you that was him?? you have never seen him before?!" haha He looked like my mom so I knew immediately that was him. Then we met at the bottom of the escalator and I didn't really know if I could hug him or anything so he grabbed my hand and we walked outside and sat down for a little bit to wait for Brother Jo to come and meet him. He showed me pictures of my mom that he has in his wallet and then gave me a copy to keep in my wallet as well. He is such a old korean man, its awesome! Then Brother Jo came and took us to lunch. Brother Jo and my grandpa were able to talk about a lot of different things about the church and PakJaeAm. It was so fun to sit across the table and hear all of that. Then we had to run to the post office for my grandpa and when we were there he was just telling all the workers that I am his american granddaughter and that it was the first time meeting. All the workers were just in "aw" and were so happy. hahah HE was like she is pretty isn't she?? yeah her mom is in america... and continued to tell them our story haha. so cute!

These pics are so precious to him. Oh my mama.

Getting to know my Grandpa

It was a family affair meeting my grandpa at the train station.

Then we went back to the train station to buy his ticket back home. It didn't leave for a while so we sat and talked for a little bit. He showed me a briefcase full of letters from my mom that he has kept through out all these years. And showed me that he has my entire blog printed out. It was quite amazing actually.. he remembers and knows every date and time that has to do with our family. He keeps every picture and letter that my mom has sent him. He remembers the exact time and date that i called him on Christmas. It was so amazing to be able to talk to him and find out a little bit more about him and our family. I cant wait until the day my family and mom will be able to meet him too! I thank Heavenly Father for this opportunity. I know that I was called to Korea for various reasons, but i met him!! I was able to meet my mom's dad here in Korea!! I am so grateful that I was given that opportunity!! I cant really put it all into words!! I know that this gospel is true without a doubt. There are no coincidences.. everything happens for a reason and it is all part of Heavenly Father's plan. He knows us and loves each one of us. I can't thank Him enough for the miracle to serve in Korea.

I love you all and thank you for all the support that you have given to me! I cant believe that I hit my year mark next week!~~ I love every second of my mission and cant wait to see what the next 6 months has in store!!

Transfers today. Good luck to my sweet Companion Sister Faanunu
